Lighthouse Shipping Timeline

Ocean Shipment arrives in Lighthouse Express stores only once a week. All the ocean shipment packages are dropped off in the U.S Warehouse on Wednesdays in preparation for sailings. Air shipments arrive in our stores three times a week.

Shipping Days May Differ

We have no shipments scheduled for Weekends and Holidays. You must call if you require any special arrangement apart from our weekly schedule. On urgent shipment calls rapid service rates apply. We require 24 hours’ notice for weight, size, and content in order to reserve the appropriate shipping space.

Keep Note of It!

Due to the nature of shipping services, our shipments could face delays due to weather, maintenance, or mechanical issues. Delays may be experienced at inbound or outbound facilities as well as in the U.S. and Bahamas customs clearance process. These occurrences happen rarely. They are, however, not in our control. Lighthouse Express is not accountable for such delays.

Cut of Times

Air freight packages

must be received at our mentioned location. Your invoice needs to arrive to us by the following times:

5:00 p.m. on upcoming Friday for Monday’s flight with ready items for assemblage on Tuesday.

5:00 p.m. on upcoming Monday for Wednesday’s flight with ready items for assemblage on Thursday.

5:00 p.m. on upcoming Wednesday for Friday’s flight with ready items for assemblage on Saturday.

We have no control over the timing of the clearance process until the packages are released from Bahamas Customs. Once the items are ready for pick up in-store, a collection notice will be sent.

OCEAN Freight

Package must be received at our provided location with the appropriate time in order to process. The invoice needs to be delivered to the Lighthouse Express agent by 5:00 pm. on Monday. Ocean freight package shipments are dropped off from our U.S.  warehouse on Wednesday for sailings. Lighthouse Express reserves the right to change cut-off and shipment times.

Invoices are required

to determine the value and duty on shipments imported into the Bahamas. Without invoices, items will not be dispatched. In order to minimize delays with your shipment, invoices must be sent before the shipment’s cut-off times. Once your order is placed, please email your invoice to Lighthouseexpress@yahoo.com.

Invoice Requirements

  • Name, address, and telephone
  • Short description of contents of your package/shipment
  •   Must include an enumerated cost and quantity for items on invoice.
  •  Total amount of shipping shopping, including taxes, should be declared.

Sending Invoice

Please make sure that a clean and original copy of the invoice is sent. If an individual sends an invoice after receiving a confirmation mail or notification, an invoice must be sent. We usually process the item shipment after it arrives at our location. It is best to send invoice in advance because the package’s arrival may be delayed depending on the nature of service required.

Consolidation

We charge $10 per week to process consolidation requests. An email must be sent directly asking for consolidation. It must include all things to be consolidated. This must be completed before the items are delivered to our U.S. location.

For delivery items that are being exempted or discharged under the authorization of Government Ministries, a stamped and approval letter and invoice must be submitted to Lighthouse Express to confirm priority of importation.

If the invoice and your item is cleared without these essential exemptions being provided to us, you will be responsible for all duty fees/funds associated. You must call Lighthouse Express in advance to use exemptions because exemption requests may require extra processing charges.

Rates

This website’s calculator calculates freight charges according to dimensional weight and distance, etc. A dimensional calculation is based on Length x Width x Height.

Fee

V.A.T. is applied to the landing cost of all imported items. Rates listed are subject to it. In addition to the applicable duty rate, the Bahamas Customs Department charges a 1% processing fee on the value of imported goods. The fee is a minimum of $10 and a maximum of $500. Environmental fees are levied where applicable.

Order Assistance

For customers who don’t have a debit or credit card, our staff can assist you in purchasing at our online stores. Purchase Price (US Item / Tax / Shipping Fee) + Conversion Fee (7% to $ 5 or more) + Order Support Fee ($ 10).

Please note that the order support covers a maximum of two branches. If you need help finding the items you want, it will cost $5 for 30 minutes or part of it.

Applicable shipping, customs, handling, environmental charges, and documentation charges should be paid as soon as the item reaches our store.

Storage

If packages are not picked up within 7 days of arrival at our location (including Saturdays and Sundays), a storage fee will be charged. The storage charge is $3.00 per day. If you do not collect your packages within 30 days, packages will be sold to cover the cost of importing the items. Packages must be collected in the order in which they are received.

Customer ID

Your name and customer ID number must be used on all items shipped. If not, there will be delays until we can confirm the identity of the customer.

Representative Identification

An official photo I.D is necessary to collect any packages. If you refer a representative to collect your delivered items on your behalf, we will need written consent, a copy of your official photo, and identification for the person collecting on your behalf. Otherwise, an email can be used that should be sent from your email address. It should include your name to collect the specific shipment. Also, the representative needs to have a photo I.D. to collect the package.

Payment Due Terms and Conditions

Your payments can be due for the following conditions: If total cost (including freight, customs duties, etc.) is expected to be between $300 and $500, a 50% prepayment is required for shipping the package.

If the total cost (including freight, duty, etc.) is expected to exceed $500, full prepayment is required for the package to be shipped. For pickup/store orders, the cost of the item, pickup/order assistance, and exchange fee must be paid in full before Lighthouse Express completes the pickup/purchase. Freight, customs, and other necessary charges will be collected once the item reaches the store. Large packages (over £125) need a 50% deposit for shipping.

Package/Item Size

Any package with an actual or dimensional weight greater than 30 kg is kept for approval (by the customer) for shipment by air. Also, a 50% deposit is required.

Illegal or Unauthorized Items

Illegal items will not be shipped. If illegal items are found in packages to be shipped, the responsible authorities are notified and the sender/receiver (customer) faces legal action.

Urgent Shipment

We do not currently process shipments of perishable items. Contact us in advance to arrange express deliveries. Otherwise, the items will be shipped on our next available flight.

Refusal/Damaged Package

We reserve the right to refuse packages with evident damage that arrive at our U.S. address. Furthermore, we reserve the right to deny packages for a variety of reasons. These include but not limited to hazardous products, prohibited items/substances, big packages that have not been pre-arranged, etc.

Lighthouse Express will not be held liable for manufacturing faults or damage caused by carelessly packed goods. Likewise, once the delivery has left the store, we are not responsible for any claims of damages or missing items.

Package/Item Protection Fee

Please note that all fragile/high-value items (e.g. televisions, computers, laptops, etc.) will be charged a 5% package protection fee. Package protection for other items can be purchased by the client at a cost of 5%. This must be arranged before the items are delivered from our U.S. warehouse.

Item protection charges cover packages damaged or lost in transit from our store location in the U.S. to our location in the Bahamas. They will expire once the item is collected by the customer or their agent. It does not apply to defective or defective manufacturer products. As stated in the previous section, packages need to be inspected before leaving our stores. We will not be accountable for any damage or any claims once an item or package is no longer in our store’s care, custody or control.

 Perilous/Dangerous/Hazardous (HAZMAT) Material
